The carved stone sculpture shows head of vaikuntha Vishnu. This  representation of Vishnu expresses the deity’s supreme manifestation, in which his two premier avatars, the boar Varaha and the man-lion Narasimha, are given expression in one form, the three-headed Para Vasudeva orVaikuntha. Here, none survives intact, framing crowned Vishnu, who embodies an Indian vision of kingship.

The concept of a four-headed Vishnu first appears in the Hindu epic Mahabharata, but the complete iconography was first found in a 5th-century Pancharatra text. The icon reflects influences from the Gupta period and the Gandhara architectural tradition. While as per one interpretation, the animal heads represent Vishnu's avatar Narasimha (lion-headed man) andVaraha (boar), another theory based on Pancharatra texts relates the four heads toChaturvyuha - Vasudeva (Krishna), Samkarshana (Balarama), Pradyumna and Aniruddha - four vyuhas (manifestations) of Vishnu. A cult centered on VaikunthaChaturmurti developed in Kashmir in the 8-12th century, when the deity also enjoyed royal patronage in the region. The Lakshmana Temple of Khajuraho suggests his worship in the Chandela kingdom (Central India) in the 10th century.

Each piece you see here is made individually by our master artisans. The craftsmanship involved creates slight variations in color, finish, size, and shape - a quality we consider to be an added touch of uniqueness. The remarkable detail of our stone sculptures is due to meticulous and labor-intensive care by our craftsmen to produce these unique sculptures of exquisite detail and timeless durability.

About Stone:  The stone used for our sculptures is the grey Udai stone which is a solid stone that is perfect for any type of location and weather conditions, hot or cold, wet or dry. The stone is versatile in that it can be colored in a wide spectrum of colors.  It can also be polished or unpolished giving it a clean or rough feel.  In humid conditions if it is left untouched it takes on a very mysterious, antique, worn look like you would see in the temple ruins of India.
